About Ten and Sixpence

Ten and Sixpence is the stationery range designed by illustrator, Claire Messer, who works from her studio in rural Cambridgeshire supervised by her trusty rabbit, Mr.Velvets.

All cards are locally printed in the UK on FSC certified board before being hand-finished and assembled in the studio. Recycled envelopes are used where possible, alongside recycled gift boxes.

When not designing stationery, Claire can be found writing and illustrating for children's picturebooks. Claire recently completed an MA Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art and her first picturebook, 'Grumpy Pants' was published in 2016.

From an early age, Claire has always loved stationery (and bunnies) and delighted in spending her pocket money on all things paper. After studying illustration & printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, she spent time working at a glorious treasure trove of paper & print in Australia, where she discovered a world of papers full of colour and pattern. After moving back to the UK, excited by these wonderful papers, and with lots of friends getting married looking for invitations 'a little bit different', Ten and Sixpence was born.

Mr.Velvets hails from the discovery city of Dundee and met Claire whilst she was at art college. He also loves all things paper so they became fast friends and he shortly moved into her studio. Inseparable ever since, he now holds the position of studio supervisor.
